There's nothing better than starting the Christmas holidays with a new fresh bundle of joy to share it with. Not only will this be "Baby's First Christmas" but this is also baby's first....everything! First breath, first scream, first cry, first bath and so much more!
This birth story is nothing short of a miracle! As I photographed this moment, I kept thinking "This has Him written all over it. Only HE could pull off such a miracle...and such a blessing." God gives us the biggest blessings, and this baby is an example of that.
I am so blessed and so thankful to have been a part of such an incredible story and surrounded by such a great and supportive family. Max and Maklyn are so blessed! -And big sister is so proud! Congratulations to the Floyd Family, party of F O U R!
Here is the birth story of Baby Kyson Jenix Floyd.
-*-

On Sunday, December 1, 2019, Maklyn was admitted at 8:00pm for her induction at Baptist East Medical Center in Montgomery, Alabama.
-*-
I arrived at the hospital at 8:32am on Monday, December 2nd, to find Maklyn at 3cm dilated. She started on pitocin at 6:00am and her water broke at 7:30am so it was only a matter of time before we got the ball rolling.
-*-
As we waited, Max, paced the floor like a ball of nerves. I could tell he was exhausted but so excited and eager to meet his baby boy. With a Starbucks Double Shot Energy coffee, Tums, Rice Krispies treats and crackers, I would say he had all the essentials to help him get through the waiting period! Max was the most supportive, most caring Husband throughout the entire day. I know Maklyn truly enjoyed and appreciated having him by her side.
-*-
Maklyn started out with a plan of having a natural birth with no epidural but after she reached 3-4 cm of dilation, she decided to take an alternative route. At 9:15am, Maklyn was given medicine to help with pain and received her epidural at 10:30am.
-*-
Shortly after the medicines kicked in, Maklyn's mood changed from one extreme to the other! She went from crying and in pain to.....wait for it..... LAUGHING! She laughed hysterically and of course we all laughed too. Dad even asked her "You wanna take a selfie?" I even buckled over laughing with her several times! What a funny memory!
-*-
Shortly after we all had a good laugh, Maklyn rested and two short hours later she reached 6cm- slightly over the half way mark! I like to call that a "checkpoint"!
-*-
After Maklyn was well rested, big sister, Kyla joined us for a meet & greet! She was so excited about her new baby brother to-be and couldn't wait to meet him. In fact, she kept saying "Come on, boy!" She was persistent and knew exactly what she wanted-- her baby brother!
-*-
Side note: Earlier that morning, I met Kyla in the elevator as we were making our way to the 2nd floor. She didn't know me at the time but kept telling me about her baby brother in Mommy's tummy! As she sported her "Super Sis" pink shirt, I could feel her excitement! Kyla is adorable and I know she'll be the best big sister...and there's no doubt she will be protective over the little guy!
-*-
As we continued to wait for the magic to happen, I caught a side conversation taking plan to the left of Maklyn. At first, all I could hear was something about a banana. I assumed Maklyn's Mom and Aunt Tracy were passing the time away by discussing different recipes. -I was so far from the actual story. This is a perfect example of how "ease dropping" can get you in some trouble. Turns out, they were really talking about the stages of dilation! In case your curious, here's the photo they were looking at. It really puts the whole story into perspective!
-*-
At 2:18pm, Maklyn woke up from a catnap concerned with the amount of pressure she was having. Shea, Maklyn's sweet nurse and a former client of mine, came in and checked her. BOOM! We were between 8-9cm and so close to showtime!
-*-
One hour later, we were ready! The family cleared the room and the nurses began prepping for the big moment! With the help of the nurses and Dr. Martin, Kyson Jenix Floyd was delivered at 4:44pm. He was a healthy nine pounds! Max, Maklyn and the rest of us were shocked to hear he was so big but that was a blessing! Praise God for a healthy beautiful baby boy!
-*-
-*-
Welcome to the world, baby Kyson Jenix. You are loved by so many. I imagine you will do great things in this world. Mom, Dad & Kyla will treasure you forever and be by your side through all your smiles and struggles.
